Five NFL Players Primed for a Breakout Season

With the NFL season rapidly approaching, here are five players that could have a breakout season.

5. Chris Godwin, WR Tampa Bay

With DeSean Jackson being traded to Philadelphia, a window of opportunity has opened for Godwin. Bruce Arians will also be the new coach in Tampa Bay, and his offense features a wide variety of short and intermediate routes which is Godwin's strength. If he can get on the same page as QB Jameis Winston and receive the targets left from Jackson, Godwin could tap into his potential and have himself a 75 plus catch and 1,000 yard season this year.

4. Dallas Goedert, TE Philadelphia

Word out of Philadelphia this spring was that Dallas Goedert was dominating the middle of the field alongside Zach Ertz. With a healthy Carson Wentz, the Eagles should have the best offense in the league this year. Wentz features his TE's early and often, and should look to hit the 6'6 Goedert in the red zone and on seam routes. Goedert showed flashes of his potential last season, especially on his 75 plus yard TD that was called back for "pass interference" against the Cowboys last year. With defenses focusing their coverage on Ertz this season, expect Goedert to reap the benefits.

3. Hollywood Brown, WR Baltimore

Antonio Brown's younger cousin, the Oklahoma alum will become Lamar Jackson's go-to receiver during his rookie year. Brown has blazing speed that will be able to take the top off the defense in the Ravens run heavy system, and the quickness to take a ten yard slant to the house. Brown and Jackson will form an electric duo in the AFC North for years to come.

2. D.K. Metcalf, WR Seattle

Everyone knows Metcalf due to his pictures of his insane frame on Twitter and his blazing speed. But, Metcalf fell in the draft due to concerns over his agility and route running. He falls into a good situation with Seattle who develops players as well as anyone. He also will look to fill the shoes left by the retired receiver Doug Baldwin as the number one receiver in Seattle. He has a great opportunity ahead of him with a lot of targets on the table and should be able to make the most of it with Russell Wilson at QB.

1. Josh Allen, QB Buffalo

Last year, the Bills trotted out Allen is a rookie and gave him one of the worst offensive supporting casts in the history of the NFL. Allen showed promise though and showcased his ability to launch the long ball, and use his mobility as well. The Bills went out and revamped their offensive line adding some beef up front. Buffalo also added Frank Gore, T.J. Yeldon, and electric rookie Devin Singletary into their backfield with LeSean McCoy. Furthermore, the additions of possession receiver Cole Beasley and deep threat John Brown should lead to Josh Allen having a breakout season and potentially leading the Bills to the playoffs.
